The beginn of the preparatory works for a future military airport.

June 1935
It were 172 acres of land purchased, and the fence and the railway connection built.

The full service operation begins.

Air attacks on the Aerodrome.

12th – 14th of May in 1945
In a remarkable action was flown all former prisoners of war from the aerodrome Barth to England by the 8th Army of the U.S. Air Force.

30th April 1945
It ends for Barth not only 9 years of garrison, but also fascism

1957
Reactivation of the airfield by the former Lufthansa of the German Democratic Republic. The airport is a commercial airport for domestic flights to the airports Berlin-Schönefeld, Leipzig, Erfurt and Dresden.

1958
Baltic Sea week at Barth airport with passengers from Helsinki.

1965
Renaming from Lufthansa to Interflug.

May 1965
Louis Armstrong arrives at Barth Airport.

Construction of depots.

76.000 passengers took off and landed in Barth.

11. August 1974
A Jak-40 of the Czechoslovak Air Force is landing at Barth Airport.

1975
Adjustment of the air services of security reasons (political) and disassembly of the navigation systems.

15th of June 1975
The airport celebrates its 18th anniversary.

1975 to 1990
Stationing of agricultural flight at the airport.

23th of January 1990
The first small aircraft of the general aviation was arrived at the airport in Barth. It comes from Hamburg.

27th of June in 1991
The company “Ostseeflughafen-Stralsund-Barth GmbH” was founded for the operations of an airport. General and business aviation are possible.

1991
Start of the first stage of construction, investment volume: DM 1 million. The country is providing the city of Barth with a subsidy of DM 900,000 for the expansion of the airport.

1992
The Hansestadt Stralsund receives funding of DM 7.8 million for the expansion of the regional infrastructure Ostseeflughafen Stralsund-Barth. Bundesliga football clubs use Barth airport to get to Rostock. Since 1992 charter flights have been made to the region

1993
Start of the second stage of construction. New construction of the runway: 1,720 m x 30 m, enlargement of the apron, construction of the electronic navigation systems, renewal of the runway and apron lighting. Inauguration of the new runway by Minister Dr. Angela Merkel.

20th of Juni 2003
Germany flight with over 80 participants.

2004
Application for funding for further modernization of the airport.

2008
The Nordvorpommern district as a recipient of funding receives a legally binding commitment to the provision of EUR 2.7 million for the III. Expansion stage.

26th of June 2009
In a public event, the airport informs about the future possibilities of the III. Expansion stage.

May 2010
With the demolition work on the old barrack begins the construction III. Expansion stage.

14th of July 2010
Foundation for the new terminal.

29th of October 2010
The airport celebrates topping.

25th of April 2012
The new airport terminal with a tower will be handed over to its destination.
